2025 Spring Meeting on 28th April at Scraptoft GC

Our Spring Meeting held at Scraptoft was a great success, with 84 ladies taking part on a gloriously sunny day in April 2025.

1st place went to Anne Boyce, Pam Hall and and Sue Clark all of Rutland Water with an impressive score of 84 points.

President Julia Dunkley thanked all the committee who helped on the day with special thanks to Sheila Plant who organised the day superbly, including the weather.

Thanks were also sent to the staff and members of Scraptoft golf club for hosting us and making our day pleasurable.

Thanks were also sent to Mary Jarvis who organised the raffle with some lovely flowering plants.

Julia met up with Pam Hall at the match v Notts when she presented her with her trophy as a member of the winning team of the Spring Meeting played for the Wendy Johnson Trophy.

AGM & Luncheon held 6th February 2025

The AGM & luncheon was held at Devonshire Place on Thursday 6th February 2025.

140 ladies booked for this event and it was lovely to see everyone on the day. This event marks the start of the golfing season as so many ladies meet up for the first time in the year.

A big thank you and well done to Pam Hall who stepped down as President at the AGM, you did a great job and we wish Julia Dunkley all the best for the coming two years as our new President of the Association.

We also said goodbye to Joyce Calow of Birstall, Sara Glover of Rutland Water and Elaine Holloway of Kilworth Springs at the AGM again thank you for all your inputs and hard work during your time on the Council. It was very much appreciated.

We are very pleased to welcome Mary Jarvis of The Leicestershire as Vice-President, and Chris O'Neill of Kibworth and Beverly Roebuck of Luffenham Heath as new members of the Council.

We still have a vacancy on the Council so if anyone would like to join us, please do contact the Secretary for more information (contact details are on your fixture card).

We look forward to working together on the Council for the benefit of all our members.

2024 Bridge Luncheon 6th November Glen Gorse GC

52 ladies attended the Bridge Drive at Glen Gorse Golf Club on 6th November together with 3 committee members providing support on the day.

Players were welcomed with tea and coffee and the Drive commenced at 10.30am. Lunch was served from 12 noon which was enjoyed by all, play then resumed and came to a conclusion at around 2.15pm.

The winner of the trophy was Glenys Green who was a guest in the team from Rothley Park with 2340 points.

Julia Dunkley thanked Pauline Dignan for being our Director of Bridge, Elaine Wesley, our Treasurer for organising the day and all the ladies for their support for this event.

The raffle in aid of the County Junior Girls raised £155, Julia Dunkley thanked everyone for their generosity.

Julia Dunkley concluded by thanking Glen Gorse Golf Club for their hospitality and assistance on the day.

2024 Captains & Vice-Captain Event 19th September Charnwood Forest GC

28 Ladies, from 17 clubs joined the 9-hole AM AM on a cold but dry morning.

It was a pleasure to be back at Charnwood and Mark the manager was very helpful, the course excellent and lunch afterwards a ham and boiled egg salad with hot new potatoes was very tasty.

The aim of the day is to introduce the vice-captains to the Association and once again our secretary, Lynda Bramley, gave a short talk on the Association and all that it stands for, which was appreciated by those in attendance.

Merchandising was available on the day and sold well.

The winners with 44 points were:

Donna Canning & Nikki Pridden from Beedles Lake playing with Amanda Morgan & Jane Ackling of Longcliffe

2nd Place with 40 points OCB were:

Jackie Fisher & Gill Hoggan of Melton Mowbray playing with Jane Thorpe & Ann Jervis of Kibworth

Our President Pam Hall, presented the winners with chocolates and 50th Anniversary merchandise including a towel, ball marker and pencil . 2nd place received chocolates, ball marker and pencil.

Our thanks to Charnwood Forest golf club for hosting this event, to the staff and members for their help on the day, to everyone who attended this event and made the day so special.  Congratulations to all who played on the day, you are all winners.

2024 Autumn Meeting 2nd September at Lingdale GC

The Autumn Meeting held on September 2nd, 2024, at Lingdale Golf Club was a well-attended event with 44 teams from 15 clubs entered to play a pairs better ball.

The course was shrouded in fog as the first ladies set off, in the hope of finding flag and green, but by midday the weather had cheered up and the later tee times enjoyed a warm and pleasant day.

Lingdale was in excellent condition and played beautifully with lots of run on the ball.

Thanks to the green staff and Andy Mee and the team in the office who helped to make the day run so smoothly.

Winning the Renee Shipman Trophy 44 points Kathy Jex and Sharon Scott, Lady Captain of Lingdale

Second: 43 points, Pam Hall, & Sue Clarke of Rutland Water

Third: 43 points, Su Pallett & Paula Bennett of Lingdale

Fourth:42 points, Andrena Porter & Mary O’Flynn of Lutterworth  

Fifth: 42 points, OCB, Terri Wills & Alison Seddon of Longcliffe

Nearest the pin on the 7th: Elaine Holloway of Kilworth Springs

Nearest the pin on the 18th: Anne Bancroft of Hinckley

President Pam Hall, sent her thanks to the organisers, Sara Glover & Jayne Mansfield for a well organised day, and to the other members of the committee who assisted on the day. Thanks were also sent to the starters who were each given a sleeve of balls.
