Spring Meeting Monday 24th April 2023
The Spring Meeting held on 24th April at Kibworth GC was well attended with 33 teams entered in the 3-ball alliance competition for the Wendy Johnson trophy.
The weather in the run up to the event was very wet and unfortunately 3 teams had to drop out as buggies were not allowed on the course. This did not stop one group of ladies who with a combined age of 244 played 18 holes returning with a respectable score on the day, well done!
The weather on the day was fair and much better than forecasted. However, it was decided to give full handicap allowance as the course was playing long and despite the valiant attempts and an early start by the green keepers they had not been able to mow the rough and the final scores were reflective of this.
The winners of the Wendy Johnson Trophy were Jo Pepper, Cathy Russell and Suzanne Smith of Cosby GC with 67 points.
2nd Place: Sue Clarke, Sara Glover and Pam Hall of Rutland Water GC with 66 points
3rd Place: Lynda Bramley, Lynda Dunne and Sue Young of Beedles Lake GC with 65 points
4th Place: Julia Dunkley, Chris O'Neill and Ruth Palmer of Kibworth GC with 65 points (OCB)
5th Place: Helen Adams-Brown of Hinckley, Anne Knight and Judy Matharu of Lutterworth with 64 points

The President Pam Hall thanked the organiser Julie Dawson for an extremely well organised day and also the committee who all assisted on the day.
The two starters Jeff and Phil were each given a sleeve of balls as a thank-you on the day.
AGM & Luncheon Held on Thursday 9th February 2023
The AGM and Luncheon was held at Devonshire Place on Thursday 9th February 2023. 170 ladies booked to attend the event that started the 50th anniversary celebrations for the Association. Incoming President Pam Hall, extends her thanks to all the ladies who attended the AGM and hopes that you all enjoyed your day.
There were displays of photographs, honours boards and the President's Logs available for ladies to review, charting the history of the Association through the years.
The dining room looked stunning; tables were dressed with white cloths, serviettes and name plates set off by a centrepiece of three 50th anniversary balloons and a colourful posy of flowers. President Helen Buckingham created an 50th anniversary booklet and these were set out at each place setting together with a pencil for each attendee at the AGM.
Julie Dawson baked 50th anniversary lemon cup cakes with the Association logo printed onto edible rice paper for each attendee, that's a lot of cakes and they were truly delicious.
It was particularly pleasing to see so many Past Presidents of the Association at the AGM and to commemorate this event with a group photograph.
We would like to thank Premfloor Ltd for their generous sponsorship of the 50th Anniversary of the Association.
The AGM minutes will be posted to the website once these have been approved by the Council at the meeting scheduled for the end of March.
Bridge Lunch 3rd November 2022
52 players attended the annual bridge luncheon held at Kirby Muxloe Golf Club.
Much chatter and laughter ensued as participants arrived for tea or coffee and to select their bridge table.
After a warm welcome from the Lady Captain of Kirby Muxloe, Anna Taylor, and our Lady President, Helen Buckingham, bridge commenced at 11.00am.
A two-course lunch was served at 12.30pm before players returned to their bridge, which was planned to finish at 3.00pm.
Our thanks go to Jane Fletcher of Kirby Muxloe who was the Director of Bridge for the day.
Participants felt that the final bridge session was a bit rushed, so it was agreed that next year players would arrive 30 minutes earlier to allow sufficient time for the game and lunch with a more relaxed end to the bridge. This should allow everyone to depart by 3.30pm and arrive home before dark.
The raffle which had a Christmas treat theme, raised £137 for the County Junior Girls. Many thanks to all everyone for your generosity. Anita of the County and all the junior girls are very appreciative of the funds raised.
Finally on behalf of our Lady President, Helen and the committee, thank you to the staff at Kirby Muxloe who made us so welcome.
We look forward to seeing you all at Scraptoft golf club on 9th November 2023.
Captain and Vice-Captain 16th September 2022
26 ladies booked to play in the captain and vice-captain event at Kibworth golf club on Friday 16th September.

Two clubs are paired together to play an AM AM format competition played over 9 holes followed by a lunch of jacket potatoes with various toppings. Council members Helen Buckingham and Sandra Baum made up a seventh team on the day.
Merchandising was available to purchase on the day and ladies were advised about the Association and events that are organised on behalf of the members.
