2021 President's Day held at Belton Park
Fifty-six ladies from seventeen clubs played at Belton Park Golf Club one year on from our original booking.
There was a two tee start with President Helen Buckingham seeing the players off from the first tee and immediate Past President Glenda Yeldham from the tenth tee. Glenda and Helen shared the day as Glenda had made the original booking for this venue but had missed out on hosting the event during 2020 due to the Coronavirus.
The three winning teams on the day were:
First Place and Winners of the President's Quaich's
Helena Woodward and Sandra Baum of Hinckley 80 points
Sue Fletcher and Sally Hollis of Lutterworth
Elaine Wesley and Pat Sutton of Glen Gorse 79 points
Leona Harris of Cosby and Loraine Washington of Scraptoft
Kim Griffin and Christine Walker of Beedles Lake 76 points
Bubbles Emmett and Liz Toney of Lutterworth
Thank you to the all the ladies who played at Belton Park and we hope that you enjoyed your day.
2021 Spring Meeting at Rothley Park Cancelled
It is very disappointing but yet again due to the Coronavirus the Spring Meeting at Rothley Park has been cancelled. The three months lockdown and continued restrictions have resulted in this difficult decision being made.
On a more positive note, we are delighted to report that Rothley Park will now be the venue for our Autumn Meeting in 2022.
With restrictions scheduled to be lifted through the coming weeks we are hopeful that our future matches and events will be able to go ahead as planned.
We look forward to seeing many of you playing in our events planned through the remained of the year
2020 Autumn Meeting and Bridge Drive Events Cancelled
The Autumn Meeting which was planned to be held on Monday 7th September at The Leicestershire Golf Club for the Renee Shipman Trophy was cancelled as a result of Covid 19 restrictions.
It is very disappointing that this trophy event planned for 2020 has had to be cancelled. The social distancing restrictions and local Leicester lockdown have resulted in this decision being made, albeit with regret, by the committee.
The Bridge Drive planned for Thursday 5th November at Kirby Muxloe Golf Club has also been cancelled for 2020. It is not feasible to maintain social distancing and to observe safe handling practices whilst sharing playing cards with other bridge players at this time.
It is hoped that events planned for 2021 will be able to proceed as the world gets used to a "new normal" in a Covid 19 environment.
2020 President's Day Cancelled
President's Day was another casualty of the Coronavirus. The event was scheduled to be held on Thursday 25th June at Belton Park Golf Club but this again had to be cancelled.
The social distancing restrictions and closure of clubhouse facilities resulted in the decision to cancel the event.
It is looking likely that other events planned for later in the year will also be in doubt.
2020 Spring Meeting Cancelled
Unfortunately the Spring Meeting scheduled to be played at Luffenham Heath Golf Club for the Wendy Johnson Trophy had to be cancelled due to the Coronavirus. This is the first cancellation for our Association but unfortunately probably not the last for this year.
We are very mindful that this virus has claimed many lives and that not being able to play golf is a small sacrifice in the scheme of things.
The committee hope that all members stay safe and well by following the social distancing guidelines and other preventative measures.
We look forward to seeing you all when the crisis has moved on, whenever this will be.
