There are three golfing events held each year that are open to all members and associate members of the Association. These are detailed on the fixture card that is distributed at the AGM in February of each year.
The Spring Meeting is played as a 3 Ball Alliance competition played for the Wendy Johnson Trophy.
President's Day is played as an AM AM competition format. Entries are submitted as a pair who are then partnered (by the President and small sub-committee) into a team of four players competing for the President's Quaiches. The event is usually played on a course outside the counties of Leicestershire & Rutland and includes a two-course meal. This incurs a higher cost than other trophy events but is a very enjoyable day out.
The Autumn Meeting is a 4 Ball Better Ball competition format played for the Renee Shipman Trophy.
The Spring and Autumn Meetings are held at golf courses within the counties of Leicestershire & Rutland. These are hosted by clubs on a rotating basis over several years and are at the discretion of each club. We are very grateful to each hosting club and their members and staff for their generous support of the Association and the use of their courses. A contribution is made to the club by the Association for the use of their facilities.
The Wendy Johnson and Renee Shipman trophies as presented to the Association by the founder members are retained by the President for safe keeping with individual trophies being awarded to the winners of the competitions to take home for the year. The trophies are returned in time for the event the following year and are also presented to the winners at the AGM.
In addition to the golfing events there is a Bridge Drive held in November of each year. Each team must have at least one-member, associate member or social member of the Association. Other members of the team may be guest bridge players and may also include gentlemen. The Bridge Drive is held at various host golf clubs across the county. From 2023 play will commence at 10.30am and break for a two-course lunch. The event will finish at around 3.30pm to allow for everyone to get home before dark.
We hope that you will be able to join us at one of our events during 2023
