Sixty-four players attended the Bridge Luncheon at Scraptoft Golf Club with four committee members providing support on Thursday 9th November.

As requested, the bridge commenced half hour earlier at 10.30am. Coffee being served from 10.00am gave the ladies time to catch up with friends old and new.

The raffle in aid of junior girls raised £170, Pam Hall our President, thanked everyone for their generosity.

Ms Hall thanked Pauline Dignan, of Lingdale for being the Director of Bridge and Joyce Calow of Birstall the committee member who organised the day, for doing an excellent job.

Captain and Vice-Captain Event at Birstall GC

Twenty-four ladies played in the 9-hole AM AM on a lovely sunny day at Birstall golf club on Friday 16th September.

This is a popular event that brings together the incoming captains of 2024 for the first time. It is a good opportunity to meet and put faces to names and to confirm or arrange fixtures in the diary for the coming year. Unfortunately, numbers were slightly down this year due to illness & operations. Our treasurer Elaine Wesley made up the first team on the day.

Birstall provided an excellent course followed by a light lunch of jacket potatoes and salad.

Merchandising was available on the day & our secretary, Lynda Bramley, advised the ladies about the Association.

The winners with a magnificent score of 50 points were: Julia Booth & Alison Mullin from Charnwood Forest & Helen McVeigh & Sharon Scott of Lingdale

2nd Place with another excellent score of 49 points were: Jane Long & Jayne Mansfield of Willesley Park, Sue Ker & Jane Hales of Rutland Water

Pam Hall, Lady President presented the winners with some 50th Anniversary merchandise a towel, ball marker and pencil.

Congratulations to all who attended and made the day so special.

Match L&RLCGA v SLRGC at Beedles Lake

The annual match took place on Thursday 24th August at Beedles Lake Golf Club. This match is very popular with both the ladies and the men. This year there were 55 ladies who wanted to play in this match unfortunately we can only field 24 ladies in this pairs match play event. Thank you to everyone who played.

Many thanks to Lynda Bramley for organising the day and for working with Gerry McIntyre, Secretary for SLRGC to calculate the handicaps and shots received.

A nearest the pin for the ladies and men on the 3rd was sponsored by Lynda & Glyn Bramley and John Rawlings sponsored a ladies and men nearest the pin in 2 shots on the 12th hole. Thank you for your prizes. The 3rd was won by Pam Hall & Glyn Bramley. The 12th by Andena Porter and Eric Cooper. Congratulations to all.

The game was played in good spirit with plenty of banter and I’m delighted to say the trophy was won by The Ladies, the 3rd time this has happened since 2008. Well done Julia on your team selection.

From the bacon rolls & coffee to the excellent meal served to us at Beedles Lake I would like to say a huge thank you for hosting us.
