Match Results

The match v Nottinghamshire was played  on Thursday 25th May 2023 when Leicestershire & Rutland welcomed Nottinghamshire lady captains to Kirby Muxloe golf club on a lovely sunny day.

The course was in excellent condition despite the rough being very punishing, then again, we shouldn’t have been in the rough. The match was played in a spirit of friendship and enjoyed by all.

Leicestershire won 6/2

Beedles Lake Golf Club once again hosted the eagerly awaited our match v SLRGC, or "the match against the men " on 25^th August.

We met for coffee and bacon rolls followed by the team announcements and then out onto the course for better-ball match play with a two-tee start.

The heavens opened about half way through the match and the rain didn't stop until the end. There were a lot of bedraggled bodies leaving the course. Thank you to all the LRLCGA ladies for playing. Thanks also to Lynda Bramley for setting up the match.

As usual the matches were hard fought and close but played in a good spirit. This year we came out a close second losing 5-7 and we presented the trophy to the men's president, Andy Vernon.

Beedles Lake, as usual, couldn't have looked after us better. The food was up to the normal very high standard and we were made very welcome.

We are very lucky to have such a good venue year on year. It is a day that everyone enjoys and looks forward to. Maybe, just maybe, we can win back the trophy next year!

On Friday 15th July Hinckley Golf Club welcomed teams of sixteen each from The Past Captains and the County Vets who joined up to make AMAM teams for our annual competition.

The warm weather was perfect for golf although the fast greens proved a challenge.

The winners with 79 points were:

Jo Pepper of Cosby and Ann Bancroft of Hinckley playing with Vets representatives Rose Fowler of The Leicestershire and Bubbles Emmett of Lutterworth

Runners up with 72 points:

Elaine Wesley of Glen Gorse and Sue Young of Beedles Lake playing with Vets representatives Sue Barker and Eithne Martin of Whetstone

The L&R ladies were welcomed to Kingsthorpe Golf Club in Northampton on Friday 8th July by the Northamptonshire players.

The course was undulating and challenging, made even more so by the very warm conditions.

Lots of liquid, sun cream and shade were the orders of the day.

The team enjoyed a tasty buffet and together with the friendly hospitality of our hosts, we had a very enjoyable day.

Northamptonshire ladies proved very strong opposition with their local course knowledge which helped them on the way to a 6 1/2 - 1 1/2 victory.

Thank you to the L&R players for playing and we look forward to our next fixture which is the Lady Captains & Vets AMAM on Friday 15th July at Hinckley Golf Club.

We welcomed Derbyshire to Willesley Park  on 10^th June.

The course was in excellent condition and the food was delicious. Thank you to all at Willesley Park for making us so welcome and especially to Lady Captain Karen Burton for her help with the flag in very strong winds!

The Derbyshire team proved friendly but very strong opposition as they came out winners by 7 matches to 1.

Our next fixture is versus Northamptonshire at Kingsthorpe on Friday 8^th July.
