2022 Match v Nottinghamshire at Nottingham City GC

The match was played on  Wednesday 25th May in blustery and showery weather, more like March than the end of May.

Nottingham City Golf Club was a new venue for most of us and the course became more challenging the farther you progressed.

The Nottinghamshire ladies were very welcoming and some close matches resulted in a 5 1/2 - 2 1/2 win for the host county.

Thank you to all the ladies who represented our association and to Vice President Pam for organising the day.

We look forward to our next match v Derbyshire at Willesley Park on 10th June.

2021 Match v SLRGC

The annual match versus SLRGC was held as usual at Beedles Lake Golf Club on 25th August, where twenty four ladies and twenty four men met for coffee and a bacon roll prior to venturing onto the course for pairs match play. The new World Handicapping System meant that to determine shots received, involved even more calculations than previous years. Thanks to Lynda Bramley for organising the event and her men's counterpart Gerry McIntyre for calculating the players' shots. Thanks also to Beedles Lake for serving up a delicious meal after play had concluded.

The matches were all played with a good atmosphere and enjoyable competitive matches. For only the second time in the match's history the Ladies were victorious eight to four, with seven wins and two halves. The last time was in 2013. It was a real privilege to lift the trophy on the team's behalf. Well done ladies!

2021 AM AM with L&R County Vets and Lady Captains

Wednesday 14th July saw 16 LRLCGA ladies meet at Kirby Muxloe Golf Club with 16 ladies from the County Vets 3rd team for our annual AMAM competition. A team consisted of two from each association with one lady from each association to count on each hole. Players to have a Handicap Index between 21 and 35.

Once again we were blessed with a sunny day and a course in excellent condition. We enjoyed coffee on arrival and lasagne afterwards.

Everyone agreed that they really enjoyed the camaraderie involved in combining together. New friendships were formed and old ones reinforced.

The winners on the day with 80 points were:

Kathy Jex – Lingdale, Wendy Miller – Rushcliffe, Sue Randle – Ullesthorpe and Pam Webb – Kilworth Springs

Runners up with 75 points were:

Angela Fox - Rothley Park, Carol Hinks- Glen Gorse, Christine Ratcliffe – Lutterworth and Myra Burrows – Market Harborough.

Photos of the winning teams were emailed to the ladies involved.

Thanks to Carol Hinks from the Vets for organising the day and the Captains’ Association  look forward to returning their hospitality by organising next year’s event.

2021 Match V Northamptonshire at Cosby GC

For our final inter county match we welcomed Northamptonshire Lady Captains to Cosby Golf Club.

This took place the day after Leicestershire and Rutland County Ladies secured runner up spot at County week. A truly inspirational performance by a young team. Buoyed by their result we played a close match with N’hants which ended in a 4-4 draw, leaving us with two draws and one loss from our inter county matches.

Once again good weather and a pleasant course played their part in making for an enjoyable day. The friendly competitive golf was followed by a tasty two course meal.

Thank you to the satff and members of Cosby Golf Club for making us so welcome and to the Leicestershire and Rutland ladies for representing our Association.

2021 Match v Derbyshire at Matlock

Matlock Golf Club hosted our second inter county match of the season and once again we were blessed with near perfect weather.
The long journey was worth it to play on such a beautiful course with stunning views round every corner. The course rewarded good course management with five par threes.
The result was a 7-1 win for Derbyshire, but our team fought well and had some close matches played in a good spirit.
Thanks to all the Leicestershire and Rutland past captains for playing.
